About Me

It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it

About Me

Hello, my name is Pamela Jacobs, and I’m a travelholic.  As a travel editor, nature lover, foodie, and consummate globetrotter, my official street address is in New York City, but in my heart, I am a citizen of the world.  In many ways, I believe in the cliche (and the Disney song) – it is, indeed, a small world, after all – but I also know that there is a big world out there, and I want to see it all.  I truly enjoy nothing more in life than to go somewhere new and wander through the streets (or dirt roads or blue lagoons), seeing, tasting, touching, and smelling new things along the way.  The fun doesn’t end there, though; as a lover of words and an enthusiastic writer, I then get to re-live my adventures and share them with people through my travel articles (many of which I force upon friends and family on a daily basis).  This leads us to this forum, a place where I can share my travel stories with someone other than my mother, who believes I am the next Hemingway, but she’s biased.

About WanderWrite

Why Wanderlustful?

Lust, one of the seven deadly sins (and many people’s favorite one), is defined as: a) An overwhelming desire or craving;
b) Intense eagerness or enthusiasm. This, along with words like passion, excitement, and even addiction, describes my feeling about travel. In fact, I love the word “wanderlust.” It’s one of my favorites. Of course, the other deadly sins are relevant as well: I travel with intense GLUTTONY (five course meals, chocolate overdoses, wine-filled extravaganzas): I am GREEDY for more trips; I am ENVIOUS of people who have been to places I haven’t yet visited; and the list goes on…
In short, I am a PROUD travel addict whose intense desire to wander knows no bounds.

Here, I aim to explore my passion, share my experiences, present my opinions, and constantly update fellow globetrotters on what’s new, hot, and relevant in the world of travel.

    I find your insight,and your writing amazing. Love what you wrote about Africa and the time you spent there. I saw this and immediately thought of you. It’s a short video on how traveling changed this actors life.

      Thank you so much for reading, and for your great compliment. I really appreciate it! And thanks for sharing this link — I couldn’t agree with him more about the importance of travel, and enjoyed watching it! More to come soon about another trip to Africa I just returned from, and the great perspective I gained along the way…

        So, where to from here? I’m looking forward to reading and hearing more about your adventures in travel. Have you ever thought about writing about other things? I know travel is your passion, but you truly are a talented individual when it comes to expressing yourself in the written word.

        Max, thank you so very much for your kind words. I truly appreciate your support! Travel writing is indeed a great passion of mine, one which I will continue (I am currently planning on starting a travel website with a bit of a niche…more to come on that), and I also am working on some fiction, which has always been a passion (my degree is in creative writing). Meanwhile, I’ll have some more posts up very soon.

        Thanks again!!

        PS – Love the quotations!
